A Once in a Lifetime Journey

I spent most of the morning walking around the western side of Cuzco snapping photos of puppies and avenues before chilling at the hotel for a bit. I left again and walked up to Sacsayhuaman, seeing caves and then Statue of Christ overlooking the city. I also found an aqueduct, which I looked up later to see it was built in the 1600s-1700s by Jesuits to bring water to the city. Many aqueducts in Spain were built by the Romans, so it is fascinating that you can find hints of that so far away. It is a blend of Spanish architecture and Inca stones, like many of the buildings in Cuzco. The architecture in cities like Cuzco is interesting to see because it appears almost like a European city but with local elements and materials. I tried some Peruvian-Japanese food at Limo back at the main square, and got some ice cream before heading back to the hotel. That evening, the group went to a complementary dinner (courtesy of the travel agency for leaving us to wait after the llama hike) and watched rally cars race by the cathedral.

I woke up early in the morning in Cuzco after a week of adventure. 3 flights later, I was back home, exhausted from a day of travel but happy to have had such an experience.
